Week of Oct 14-19 (Week 20) REGION

It's time for Region! For many of you, this is the big thing we have been working toward. Time to go and get all that you deserve with a fast time, a great place, and a race you are proud of. One of the most important things to remember is all the hard work and time you have put in this year has earned you the right to do well; so go and get it.
Announcements:
  • With Region on Tuesday, we would like everyone to plan on staying around for awards (of course, that is always an expectation) and pictures after.
  • On Monday, we need a final count of those planning on attending State. So please get that finalized (see info below).
  • If you haven't turned in the NEW paper about attending FootLocker/Nike, please turn it in on Monday (even if you did/didn't turn in the old one).
  • We would like to meet with every member of the team for a brief exit interview - if you haven't looked at the questions, please do. Fill out the Exit Interview worksheet and have it with you when you are scheduled to meet with the coaches.
Purpose of the week's workouts - For those who are finishing the season at Region, the big goal of course is to run fast this week; for those racing at State, the big goal is to run fast this week and even faster next week. So, this week's workouts will get ready for that. As noted below, the practice schedule this week is a little different - especially on Thursday and Friday. Those who are running at State are expected to be at practice Thursday and Friday - practice time is your race time, so we want to take advantage of the opportunity to practice our eating, sleeping, and running patterns for a couple days leading up to the race.

IF YOU HAVE PINE VIEW GEAR, WEAR IT TO PRACTICE!
and remember bright or white in the mornings is required

Alumni Report - Three of our Panther Greats raced at the SUU Color Country Invite on Saturday. Josie ran a very strong race for SUU and was the 2nd finisher for her team. Josie was pleased with her race and is excited to be heading to Wisconsin to race next week. Rylee finished in the top 15 overall and was the 6th finisher for UVU. Nathan had his second race as a member of the DSU xc team and placed 9th for the Trailblazers. It was great to see our PVXC'ers out racing at the next level.

Thought of the Week: What an UNBELIEVABLE weekend for our sport! First sub 2 hour marathon ever and a new women's world record. (Watch the vids)

The subtitle of Kipchoge's sub 2 attempt was "No Human is Limited". And I can't think of a more appropriate idea for these two amazing runners - and all those around them who helped them accomplish things that had never been done before.
As we head into our championship season, everyone of us should take this idea to heart. There is no doubt that Kosgei and Kipchoge have put in countless hours of work to hit these milestones, but just as important was the knowledge that once the work has been put in, the only limits on our performance are those we put on ourselves. This week and next, be like Brigid, be like Eluid, and KNOW that there really are no limits on what amazing things you - and our team, with your help - can do!
