Week 3

As summer moves along, a huge thanks and great job to all of you who worked so hard to get as many of your runs and minutes in as you could over a very busy week with trek taking a huge portion of our team at the end of the week!
Congrats to our Athletes of the Week for Week 3:
Irene Reynoso - Senior; A 2nd year Captain, Irene is a great example of hard work, leadership and bringing the team together.  There is nothing Irene loves more than this team.
Dallen Gillespie - Junior; Dallen has been around PVXC since he was just a tiny little guy!  His family has a great tradition of being part of our team, and Dallen is taking this tradition to heart and to a new level.  Dallen does all that the coaches ask of him as well as truly taking into daily practice the ideas and philosophies that are taught in our program to make himself and his team the best possible.
Congrats you two!
As we move into Week 4, look to Dallen and Irene as examples of what all of us can do to contribute to our team.  Our focus this week will continue to be using the Energy Index more effectively, getting a daily heart rate, as well as slow and focused 100 Up's.  We really want to (and can) hit our minutes goal of 9500!  But it will take a whole team effort.  We need everyone from Varsity to newbies, Level  3's to Beginner to all get a Week Report created and get your information in daily - and when we do that, we will meet this week's goals as well as many others to come!

Summer Running Club Race Results 6/21/15

The first race of the summer for the Summer Running Club saw some of our best races ever.  Nearly all the races were very close and there were great efforts put in many of the 250+ Kindergarten through 8th Grade runners.  While there were many Top 30 All-Time Records posted in the June 21st Results, the top race was put in by Scottie Bushar, who broke the boys 5th-8th All-Time Record by nearly 12 seconds with a time just fractions of a second over 6 minutes on the difficult 1 mile grass course.  Many great times were also posted by our girls who look to continue and grow the tradition of amazing girls teams at Pine View.

Weeks 1 and 2

The season is off to a GREAT START!  Moving into our 3rd week of practice, we have seen a very large class of Freshman boys and girls who are going to bring awesome attitudes, work ethic, and abilities to our team; we have had two very fun weeks of Kids' Club; and we are attempting to survive the myriad of camps, treks, vacations, and all that other stuff!  We are super proud of all of you who are doing your very best to get your minutes in - and almost all of you really are.
A huge congrats to our girls who took 2nd at the Top of Zion Relay!
Also, Congrats to our Athletes of the Week -
Week 1:
Skylar Abel - Senior.  Chosen as a captain for this season, Skylar is coming off a beast track season where he hit huge PR's in all his events (400, 800, 1600, even the decathlon).  His great attitude and work ethic are paying off huge. Watch for him to make a big push to the boys Varsity team.
Josie Bushar - Junior.  Also a captain, Josie has developed into one of our top distance girls.  She leads the team by example, effort, and with a very positive attitude.  Josie looks to lead the girls to an amazing season this year.

Week 2:
Julien Canales - Freshman.  In his first two weeks, Julien has already shown that he is willing to put in the effort and commitment to become a great distance runner.
Maycee Hayes - Freshman.  Maycee ran with us in XC last year with our MS club.  It has been great to have her back out.  She has a wonderful attitude and brings a level of determination that has already been noticed by her teammates.

Keep up the great work everyone.  Remember to focus on building up the minutes (get your runs in as best you can if you are out of town, get to practice everyday you are in town - 7:00a at Wash. Elem M-R, F locations vary *at Sullivan Park this week*), use your Energy Index to determine where your minutes are, and get good focused 100 Up's in everyday.  And finally, get your Week Reports done.

Just Kidding… One more thing…
High Altitude Camp payment is due now!  You can pay the first $50 or the full $85.  Please just get it done ASAP!
