Week 18 and Cedar Recap

Can you believe that we only have just over a week until Region and two weeks until State?!  Some days it seemed that we had miles and miles until this time of year, and others times it flew by.  Let's bear down these final few days and end the season in the great way that each of you and our team deserves to.

This past week, we raced at the Cedar Invite.  It turned out to be one of our best meets of the year.  Our JV girls easily handled the competition and won the meet by placing all five scorers in the top 11 - Pyper was 11th, Seanne 9th, Allison Brown 8th, Jada 4th, and Jenessa 2nd!  We've got a very bright future ahead of us.  The JV boys placed 2nd (even missing a couple key JV scorers) and were led by Parker who placed 6th.  The Varsity girls defeated increasing strong DH and Cedar teams 41, 52, 73.  All five scorers were medalists and placed in the top 15 - Jacey 15th, Ellie 13, Alli Baker 9th, Caroline 6th, and Jessica 1st.  We believe Jessica's win was a meet record, and it earned the highest speed rating ever for a Pine View girl.  The Varsity boys then narrowly edged out the field to take home the team title 90, 93 (DH), 96 (Hurr), 103 (Page).  Strong packing in the 4th-7th place runners was key.  Spencer had his best race of the season and was our 3rd scorer.  Alex (14th) and Carson (6th) were our top finishers.  It was a strong meet for our whole team, but we have a lot more to do and a lot more to improve on to reach our goals.

This week we have the Snow Canyon Invite on Tuesday for our JV teams (and a few who will be working for Varsity spots at Region). Remember that this meet was originally scheduled for Wednesday, but was moved due to a conflict.  We hope to have a bus for this meet (but it hasn't been picked up yet by the district) - so info will be spread Monday at the team meeting.  There is a Youngsters race at this meet ($2 per youth runner).  Meet schedule: MS at 4:00, Elementary at 4:30, HS Girls at 5:00, HS Boys at 5:30 (app).

For the Youngsters, the elementary kids also have the opportunity to race at Grandpa's Pond on Wednesday (I would guess a $2 cost).

Remember, Corbin's Marathon Service Project on Saturday.  Info will be passed out during the week.

Nike: We have just a couple spots left.  Get your permission slips and down payment ($100) in before we are all full.
