SUU and PV Time Trial #2

If you started at the bottom of these race reports and worked your way up, you can probably tell I am getting tired of writing these (as they get shorter and less detailed - maybe that's why you should keep up on journaling!).  So anyway, I am going to finish these last two (or really some of the first two) races and be caught up.
Our 2nd Time Trial was held under some pretty decent weather.  We have been having a lot of rain this year - thus running in the school over and over and over... - but it cooled it off for this time trial.  Thus leading to some good running.  Rylee Holt set a new girls record for the Youngsters followed by Sylvia Brown, Addi Baker and Sarah Snow.  Scottie Bushar led the boys.  The HS girls set a new time trial record based on their depth at 1-7.  The boys also showed strong depth and continue to work to push the pack more toward the front.
SUU was our first bigger Invite of the season and the girls really showed up!  Using their depth - placing all 7 girls in between 7th and 21st - the lady Panthers won the meet 52-59 over Cedar.
The boys took 2nd in the meet to a very good DH team and showed there is a lot of work to do in the next 1 1/2 months until Region and State.  Nick Hill took control of the pack with 600 to go and won by over 10 seconds.

Dixie All-Comers

We took on the difficult Region 9 South Course at Bloomington Hills North Park at the annual Dixie all-Comers/PreRegion Meet.  As has been the case this year, our youngsters ran very well and represented our program well.  The girls team did an excellent job and got a good feel for the course. The boys had a little more riding on the race than usual as they were fighting for Varsity spots for the next few weeks; and they really stepped up, running solid times and really pushing each other.

Las Vegas Invite

PV hasn't travelled to the Larry Burgess Las Vegas Invite in a few years.  But earlier this summer, our schedule opened up this weekend and with the new course held at the Site of the Nevada state championships, this looked like a good opportunity for our team to run against new competition.  The day started with our top three Youngsters taking the top 3 places in the race - Rylee Holt, Sylvia Brown and Addi Baker.  Then the 9/10 girls ran a very strong race led by Carli Kimzey 2nd and Brianna Loya in 7th.  The 9/10 boys got our first win of the day with a 1/2 sweep by Dallen Gillespie and Alex Hill.  Mitch Price took 4th, Macen Walker took 11th and Anwar Schone rounded out our scoring at 16th.
As the day warmed up the varsity races got under way.  The girls ran very well and took 2nd to a strong Palo Verdes team from Vegas.  Josie Bushar was our top finisher, just over 30 seconds behind a nationally ranked 10:30 3200 runner from Centennial.  The boys - led by Cam Brown who finished 6th - used depth to take the team title by a score of 52 to 80 over Centennial.
The day was very warm by the time the JV/Open races came around.  We didn't have enough girls to score our JV team (same with our 9/10 girls), but they ran strong led by Annelise Burr and Macey Widdison.  The JV boys finished off the perfect sweep for the Panther boys in nearly perfect fashion - just missing a perfect score by 1 point.  Andrew Nielsen had probably the best race of the day for the PV harriers running a 17:28 and winning by over 30 seconds in temps well over 90 degrees.  This team win earned the boys the Grand Champion Trophy for top team at the meet.

PV Time Trial #3

Another record breaking time trial.  Nearly every boy and girl who ran the Youngster race set a new PR in our middle school 1 mile race.  8 boys broke 7 minutes and 6 girls also met that standard.  Rylee Holt set a new girls' record at 5:58, becoming only the second middle schooler (girl or boy) to break 6:00.
The HS girls once again broke their 2 mile course record - led by Josie Bushar, 11 girls set season records.
The boys also ran strong with Nick Setting the pace with a strong 10:40 and 21 boys earned season records.

Herriman Invite

On Friday the 12th, the top 8 boys and girls headed up to Herriman to conquer the infamous Motha Cussa.  Carli Kimzey had a strong run in the JV race placing 8th.  In the varsity races, both teams ran very strong and placed 2nd.  Josie Bushar and Alli Peterson took 2nd team honors; as did Nick Hill on the boys side.  Both teams ran very strong and defeated many Utah powerhouse programs using our depth and team strength.  It was a race to be celebrated at the Pizza Pie!

Duel in the Desert

Tuesday, we held our annual duel with DH.  we missed a few of our teammates who weren't qualified to run, but those who were there ran great.  Our Youngster continue to set the standard for middle school teams in Southern Utah and ran very well.  Scottie Bushar continues to improve and is our top ms boy right now.  The girls also ran very strong and took most of the top spots.
In the high school girls race, Brianna Loya and Carli Kimzey set the pace for our girls.  And we continue to see good seasons from Sarah Deuel and Elizabeth Lloyd.
The boys took the top 7 spots led by Preston Warby, Jason Hall and Logan Hirschi.  Maven Walker and Zack Crowell also ran well for the team.

Woodbridge

This is why I can't keep a journal!  I can't keep up…
So our blog has fallen way behind on pretty much everything this season, so we are going to get caught up by starting at the most recent stuff and working our way back to the start.
This past weekend, our Varsity Boys headed down to Irvine, California for the Woodbridge XC Classic.  This was a first for our team and could become a yearly event (girls, it's your turn next year!).  Upon arriving Friday afternoon, we checked in and did a course run-through.  Our race was late in the evening Friday night, so we checked in to the hotel and hunted down some dinner.  Getting back to the course, we saw this was the largest XC invite any of us had been to - thousands of athletes everywhere.  The team ran very well under the lights and ended up winning our division (White - Varsity B) with a 38 second spread between Nick Hill who took 4th (and ended up with the 101st fastest time of the meet, between the 2 days), Alex Hill 17th (and top 5 fastest Freshman in the whole meet), Paul Gaona 18th, Dallen Gillespie 19th, and Andrew Nielsen 27th.  Cam Brown placed 32nd and Jake Taylor finished 61st to round out our 7.
The next day, the team had a less than desirable breakfast, a nice long run, and a good time at the beach and headed home.
The girls, meanwhile, had a great team bonding camp up at Pine Valley.  Thanks to Coach Roberts for going with them.  The Bushars for letting the girls use the cabin and chaperoning and cooking.  And to Nicole and the other girl captains for all the hard work they put into the overnighter.

Didn't Order A Spirit Pack?

... Well here is what's left.  See what you want/need and bring in your money and claim what you want.  There are still a few things on back-order - hopefully they will show up soon and we can fill out those orders.
