We're right toward the end of the season for some of you. So we want to bring up a huge idea: distance running (more than most any other sport) is built upon CONSISTENCY and building week after week, month after month, and year after year. We'll look at all your growth from Cedar in just a minute, and I hope that the data and the idea of CONSISTENCY really shows you how important it is to keep running. We'll have a lot of opportunities to keep running this winter. We implore you to keep running! Even those that are going to do another sport... it is so important to keep running over the winter and then link that to spring track and then back to XC again next summer. This is how you really grow at this sport - and when you see this real growth, it becomes another reason to love this life-long (and life-changing) activity.
Purpose of the Week's Workouts: Click here for a link to this week's workouts. We'll be on a pretty usual schedule this week. JV runners will notice that their minutes are cut down a bit in some of the runs to help you get ready for a fresher Region meet next week, while the Varsity will keep things pretty solid for now. Use the
Weekly Minutes form to go enter the number of days you ran and your total minutes from this past week (Week 17).

PVXC Thought of the Week: "Be where your feet are."
- coach_ray_o3313 (Insta)
This quote can go for a lot of things. In running, we might say keep focused on the present: the rep are on, the drill you are doing, the mile you are racing. Hopefully, you remember we are all about "LIVING AND RUNNING GREATLY" and can see that being where your feet are can be applied in anything you do. The quote continues, "Cherish the reps. Enjoy the jokes and camaraderie. These are all the little moments you'll wish you could get back. You can't rewind the clock to get back time. Don't waste it. Don't take it for granted or wish it away. Appreciate the struggle, the folks beside you and the opportunity to execute and improve. Be present. Give 100%. Make today count." This time, here with your friends, doing difficult things everyday, working together, being weird together, accomplishing together... this is a time that you should be loving. Maybe some things are hard and it might be difficult to say I love all of it, but enjoy the moments, enjoy the fun, enjoy the runs, enjoy being a part of PVXC, enjoy the effort and the journey. Enjoy where you are and what you are doing right now.

Results. We wanted to take a minute and talk about the
Cedar Improvements for the year: One of the great things about Cedar is being able to compare how each of us has grown through the year and over multiple years. This year was a little different, however, because the Cedar All-Comers was cancelled and we ran the Cedar City Invite in place of SUU. Running this on a Saturday morning and just the way the day went, made the first Cedar race of the year
very fast. So when we look at a comparison of times, some of you may not have seen the improvement that we usually do. Nonetheless, we can guarantee you that pretty much everyone on the team ran harder, faster, smarter, and responded to the difficulties of racing better this past week than you did back in August. So if you time isn't necessarily faster, do not think that you haven't improved. You have! Hard work and CONSISTENT work will always pay off, and there is no doubt each runner on this team is better today than they were back in August. Having said that, take a look at the Cedar Improvement sheet and see how it looks for you. A few shout outs for big improvements: Nate - nearly 30 secs faster (at his level, that is very impressive), Hudson - over 50 sec improvement, Sam and Bennett both with 38 sec improvement, and big gains for our freshmen - Aiden, Marcus, Calin, and Braxton all went from 24 secs to over a minute faster, all of our Junior girls went right around a minute faster with Jenevieve leading the list at 1:38, big improvements for our Sophomore girls with many near a minute including Lyndie and Lydia around 1:20, Ginger at 54 seconds faster, and our biggest improvement in the past month comes from Jovi at 1:50! Great job everyone... and that's just improvements in times; remember, we have all improved in many other ways, too.
Our Middle School program: Great job to those that raced on Saturday. Everyone ran very well. This week we will have practice on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday after school at PVHS. This is a developmental camp hosted by our HS and is available for 6th-8th graders.
