We are actually getting down toward the end. After all these long runs, hard workouts, the heat, the early mornings, now we are getting to where it will all be worth it! Everyone take a minute and look at this short article about healthy eating... Please! It is critical that each of us strive to eat healthier - more proteins, more carbs, even some fats. We can't demand a lot from our bodies if we aren't putting a lot into them.
*NEXT YEAR HIGH ALTITUDE CAMP* JULY 17-20 AT JACOB LAKE - make your plans now.
Summer Moratorium will be June 28-July 4
Some other important announcements:
- Please use this link to sign up for volunteering at the St. George Marathon this Saturday. It's a great way to give back to the sport and community that has done a lot for us. And we have a lot of fun! Family and friend invited to help as well. Register for Aid Station 22 (should have Trey's name as the captain).
- Nike SW Regional (NXR) - this past week, we sent info home about the Nike race in Phoenix. We had 30 athletes respond - this will put the cost right about $170 for registration, hotel, and bus. If we can get that number above 40 we could see the price drop to $150-$160. Athletes, please let us know if you're interested.
- Those interested in going to Foot Locker/Eastbay/Champs (whatever else it wants to be called) in California in December, we should start planning that a bit too. We are thinking maybe some parents would like to drive and we can take 15-20 kids who might want to go. Give us some feedback if you want to go (athletes) or may want to help drive/chaperone (parents).
Purpose of the Week's Workouts: This week's workouts. Continuing our Pre-Comp phase of training, we focus more on Race Pace work while still keeping some hill/strength aspects and our distance pretty high.

Race Report:
Hurricane Invite - A TOUGH course... need we say more. But it made it an experience! The girls ran strong from the front and pushed hard from their other positions. Ma'a led a near perfect PV score with the win. She was followed by Elle (2nd), Brianna (3rd), Katie (4th), and Brecken (8th). Everyone worked very hard, but Sarah and Olivia in particular had strong races. The boys were led by Kevin's 8th place finish. Dane, Gaige, and Liam hit the top 20. Grant continues to run well and Gianno had an awesome 2nd half of the race. That was a very solid effort by everyone on such a "unique" course. PV Full results for all our races can always be found at athletic.net

PVXC Thought of the Week:
"Stop chasing outcomes. Chasing leads to worry, fear of failure, and trying to force your way towards success. It never works. (Instead) work your butt off at things that you enjoy the process of doing. The outcomes take care of themselves."
"Stop chasing outcomes. Chasing leads to worry, fear of failure, and trying to force your way towards success. It never works. (Instead) work your butt off at things that you enjoy the process of doing. The outcomes take care of themselves."
-Steve Magness
It is so easy to get stuck only focusing on the outcome we want (even good things like goals hope to achieve). Unfortunately, this often leads to a tunnel vision where the only success is reached when we achieve the desire outcome. In doing so, we miss the journey and the joy it can provide; we miss the opportunity to see our growth; we limit the joy in achieving various other things. This doesn't mean we can't strive to be our best, rather it means to let go of the idea that "this outcome is the only thing that matters" and remember that through growth we find joy and fulfillment.
