Week 3 Minutes / Week 4

We are into the heart (and heat!) of summer and the runs are really starting to move for PVXC!

Please enter your Week 3 (June 20-25) minutes here.

If you haven't caught up Weeks 1 and/or 2 yet, please do (they will be closed out soon).

Also please make sure your Week Reports or blogs are up-to-date.  If you have yet to set up your Week Report, click the link to the right and request access.  Then get that going today.

A few other important announcements:
- registermyathlete.com: get this taken care of ASAP.  It must be done!
- physical:  get your physical taken care of and turned into the office at PVHS by the first week of July (you MUST have this done and on record at the high school to go to camp, no exceptions).  Check last week's post for further info about dates.
- Tues and Thurs we have weights at 3:00p at PVHS followed by a short run for many of you.
- Friday we are meeting at Heritage Park in Coral Canyon.
- Next week (July 4 - 9) is our moratorium.  During this week will NOT have Coach-led practice.  The workouts will be posted on the blog (over on the right hand column) and teammates may have informal practices, but we will not have practice at Wash. Elem. at 7:00a led by the Coaches.
- High Altitude Camp:  it is starting to get close!  By the end of this week, we will be taking our preliminary count of who is going to camp.  We will be collecting the full payment of $85 the week we return from summer moratorium (we will make it due Tuesday, July 12th).  To attend camp, an athlete MUST have/be:
     *registermyathlete.com complete
*a physical on file at PVHS
     *attending summer practice regularly
*in shape to handle the rigors of camp
Camp is Monday, August 1st - Thursday, August 4th at Deer Haven Campground on Cedar Mtn. - we are looking for parents who would like to help drive up/back (or even stay some of the time with us!).

As we head into Week 4 a few reminders from our Opening Meetings (notes for Day 2 will be updated as soon as I can get them typed up)...
- Have you written out your WHY I RUN?  Have you shared it with family and friends?
- One of the greatest things about running is how closely it resembles our greater lives and how much we can learn from the two together.  In running, like in life, we have a choice of how much we want to put into something.  In the Opening Meeting, we talked about the Participant--->>>>Contributor Model.  We all come into this thing as Participants - we want to be part of something, have some fun, hang out with friends, etc.; and then at some time a few of us decide we want more out of this.  And instead of being in it for ourselves and our own motives, we want to help all those around us and contribute to the greater good of the team, those around us, and the program.  It takes many steps and experiences to move up from being a Participant to a Contributor, and you can only do this if YOU DECIDE DEEP INSIDE YOURSELF that it is what you really want to do.  But I promise you that if/when you do make this decision, your experiences in running and in life will become so much greater.
