SUU Invite and more...

What a great meet Pine View had at SUU - winning 3 of the 4 races and taking 2 individual titles!  The meet started with the JV girls dominating.  A top 3 sweep included Freshmen Sylvia Brown in 3rd, Addi Baker in 2nd and Rylee Holt winning the title.  Megan Finch and Carli Kimzey rounded out the scoring with 6th and 7th place finishes.  The girls went on to win 19 to 67 for Cedar and 71 for DH.  The boys followed suite and also claimed top three and placed all five scorers in the top ten led by individual champ Jake Taylor, Skylar Abel in 2nd and Andrew Nielsen in 3rd.  When Logan Hall and Carson Horspool finished up in 8th and 9th, we ended up defeating DH 23 to 32.  The Varsity girls continued to show pack domination winning 26 to 53 (DH) and 83 (Cedar) by 5 in the top 10 led by Caroline Clements (4th), Meskerem Stucki (5th), Josie Bushar (8th), Jacey Finch (9th) and Ellie Bushar (10th) with a 16 second spread!  The boys also had a strong pack for much of the race and placed a solid 2nd to DH at 17 to 51.  Nick Hill led the team with a 7th place finish and Dallen Gillespie and Mitch Price ran strong to finish 9th and 10th.  The girls crushed the course record set by a '09 Mt. View that took third at NXR and the boys were less than a second off our team record set back in '09 by a team that is considered the 2nd strongest PV boys team ever.  Great Racing Everyone!

The Athletes of the Week from this past week were Seanne Smith and Xander Reese.
Seanne Smith is a Freshman who just joined the team at the start of the school year.  She has already shown great improvement and promise.  She is a very hard worker and looks to continue to be a contributor scorer on the JV team and work her way toward Varsity contention in the future.
Xander Reese is a Junior in his first year of running.  Xander is a strong soccer player and his athletic skills have translated well to the XC course.  At SUU, Xander ran with top JV pack for the first while and looks to continue to work his way up to them throughout more of the race in the future.  This gutsy race led him to a great time and a solid finish on the team.
This week we will be having our Time Trial #2 at Bloomington Hills North Park on Wednesday.  We will meet there for practice and begin the races at app. 3:45 and 4:00.
We also have our FootLocker Car Wash Fundraiser this Saturday.  Please plan on attending and help was all the hundreds of cars.  It will be held at Sandstone Elem. from 10:00a-2:00p.  SELL THOSE TICKETS!
