It seems strange, but we are actually nearing the end of this season. With just a few races left and about a month until State, let's all refocus on our efforts to be the best teammates and runners we can be. Let's also make sure we are staying on top of our school work (quarter ends in a few weeks!).

Race Report:
Border Wars - The Varsity girls and guys lined up with some of the very best teams in Utah and surrounding states on Friday at the Border Wars. The course was at Sugar House Park in SLC and used a similar layout to previous State courses (kind of a mix of the past two versions). The boys ran in the Varsity race and took 14th place. Trey and Kenny were our 1 and 2 separated by .2 secs. Zack ran 3rd for the team. He was followed by Bentley and Talmage who were also separated by less than a second. Our 6th and 7th were Porter and Kyler. The girls placed 12th in the Championship race. Brooklyn was our top finisher in 33rd. Adri wasn't far back as our 2nd finisher. Katie and Brinley ran much of the race together to finisher 3rd and 4th for our team and Kate finished 5th. Kennis and Brecken finished out our squad as 6th and 7th finishers.

Athletes of the Week: (from Week 15)
Performance of the Week: Alianna (So.) - Alianna ran a huge PR at the PreState meet. She works extremelly hard and sets a great example for everyone on the team.
Tough at Practice: Roxy (Jr.) - Roxy has been working very hard at coming back from injury and moving up groups that she has been practicing with.
Team Builder: Grant (So.) - Grant has not only been showing great improvement himself, but he has been influencing the crew around him to do the same with his hard work and example

PVXC Thought of the Week:
"(The) best way to get where you're going is to be where you are.
"
-Brad Stulberg
Be present. Focus on what you are working on now. Do whatever you are doing, well. Lately we've been talking about the idea of how often we look at the desination as the only goal. And in doing so, we not only miss the journey, but we lose out on the enjoyment of reaching a goal. As we have set goals and targets for ourselves and our team, remember that the very best way to reach those is to do the absolute best at whatever it is your doing at this exact moment. If we are at practice, have a great practice (or even break it up smaller... run this rep well, stay with the group right now, etc). If it is bed time, put the phone away and go to bed. If it is time to do homework, set aside all distractions and do the homework. If it is time to be with people you love, be with them and not distracted by other things.
